denver doldrum

I know, 11:30 isn’t really considered late, but it feels late to me tonight.  Nat and I did all the work leading up to painting the hallways in France & Jen’s building today, which is more work than it sounds like.  We worked for about ten hours, just spackling and sanding and repairing large holes and spot-priming.  I don’t think you could really understand the state some of the walls were in, and I didn’t take an photos, because I didn’t want to get paint on my camera.  I guess I needn’t have worried about that, since we didn’t even get to the painting today.  Tomorrow morning we paint the ceilings, and if we haven’t fallen apart yet and the paint has been purchased,  we will start the walls in the afternoon.

So, my body is pretty tired.  I went to bed about an hour ago but never actually got to sleep.  Nat eventually came to bed and immediately dropped into a deep slumber, which, while nice for him, was unbelievably irritating to me.  So here I am, with nothing to say to you all except this:

Dear Family and Friends in Minnesota,

I miss you and I really can’t wait to see you in a little more than a week.  Sleeplessness is bad enough at home, but almost unbearable when there are two hundred dolls in the room, staring at you.  I hope all is well there, and that you are getting ready for another wonderful Christmas.  It has been snowing here the past few days, and we are supposed to have a bunch more snow tomorrow.  It has been cold enough that we wear long johns while painting.  I suppose that seems Christmasy, but mostly it just feels cold without being able to see all the people and places that make up the Christmas season for me.  Is there a display on the eighth floor of the downtown Macy’s this year?  Does my mom have her wreath up?  Are our cats burrowing into the Christmas tree and tearing open the presents?  Did Beth have her babies yet?  I guess that is not really a Christmas thing, but will still be considered a holiday in my mind.  I’m sure we will be busy during the time we are home, but I hope to see you all at some point.

Much love,

Betsy

Those dolls would go from adorable to scary. I am sure of it.

FYI: Beth did not have her babies yet. But she’s going to the hospital tomorrow evening and expects babies on the 14th!! Yay! Also: would you like to go to the Macy’s display with me and the babies when you get back?
