Just as it got cold here in Minnesota, the McIntyre clan headed south to visit Doreen’s side of the family in Arizona for a week. Instead of driving down, Nat and I flew on southwest airlines, which I love. While black ice formed across the midwest and the Florida strawberry crop was frozen, we were swimming at least once a day in Grandma Wanda’s pool and playing billiards outside at Uncle Tom and Aunt Cheryl’s house. We can hardly wait to be 55+ so we can live there.

We came home to sub-zero temperatures…

…and are ready to hit the road again. So, the big news is that we have a farm to go to in California. It is a “Catholic Worker Farm,” which you apparently do not have to be catholic to work on. It is also a retreat center that benefits people with AIDS. I do not have much information for y’all at the moment, but that will make our future posts that much more exciting.
Yesterday, I went and made oatmeal molasses bread with my mom.

it was delicious with some homemade split pea soup and the wonderful company of my family. To be honest, both of our wonderful families have made it a little hard for me to want to go to California — not on purpose, but just by being so loving and great to be around.

I’m glad you found a farm! Also, inarticulate squeals of delight at fuzzy-lamb-suit-clad baby.
@ Cal:
Whoa
that’s pippa — she is completely worthy of delighted squeals at this point in her life, especially since delighted squeals are the thing she does second best, followed closely by clicking her tongue (her newest skill), and bested only by her sweet and knowing smiles.
I thought that was probably Pippa, but didn’t want to say so in case she was some sort of McIntyre. She is ridiculously adorable.
